The Moyenda Islamic Service Foundation, Inc. (MISF) is a non-profit, world-based organization that was founded by Dr. Zakiya Bomani Moyenda, M.D. in October 2017.  Originating in Palm Beach County Florida, the MISF is an organization that grew out of the growing demand to:

  • Increase Islamic awareness in the world community.
  • Implement the Islamic principles of charity to service humanity.

We are committed to finding needs in the world and then finding ways to fill those needs.

Our aim at the MISF, Inc. is to be the world’s organizational leader in weaving the Islamic faith with practical deeds that benefit all of humanity.

To service humanity by implementing Islamic principles to address the holistic health care needs of vulnerable populations and to lead, promote and advocate educational and leadership development opportunities for minority youth.

Meet Our Founder

Founder/President: Zakiya B. Moyenda, MD, MBA

Born in the U.K. with Jamaican heritage, Dr. Zakiya Bomani Moyenda came to the U.S. at age 4.  He was raised in Rockford, IL and moved to South Florida in 1987 and attended North Miami Senior High to complete high school studies.  In 1995, he graduated from F.I.U. in Miami with a B.A. in Psychology and immediately went on to pursue and obtain a MBA in Health Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1998.

 In the spring of 1997, while completing his graduate studies at Temple U., Dr. Moyenda embraced the religion of Islam after witnessing a congregational prayer of Muslims in a South Philadelphia mosque.  He would eventually become an active member in the Muslim Student Associations of the local universities in Philadelphia, PA, New Brunswick, N.J. and Miami, FL.

 After working in healthcare administration for 8 years, Dr. Moyenda – at the age of 36 – went to study medicine in 2006 at the American University of Antigua in the Caribbean where he graduated cum laude in 2010.  In 2015, he completed his residency training in Family Medicine at the Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.  Dr. Moyenda is a board-certified physician who currently practices hospital medicine in Deerfield Beach, FL. 

 He is also the Founder & President of The Tazkiyah Health Institute, Inc. – a private, concierge medical practice that focuses on disease prevention and health promotion.  In his recreation time, Dr. Moyenda enjoys writing poetry, cycling, cooking, motivational speeches and reading autobiographies.

Meet Our Board

Clinton Jules was born in the Freeport, Bahamas to Haitian parents and immigrated to Miami, Florida at the age 3 months old.  After completing high school in 1990 at Miami Central High school as Class Valedictorian, he pursued a degree in Biology at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He attained his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh in 1998. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Florida in 2001. Dr. Jules currently practices Internal Medicine in Broward County, Florida. He has been an active and productive member of the Southeast Florida Muslim community for almost 20 years. His personal interests include learning the Arabic language, Quranic recitation, basketball, tennis, and swimming.

 With the help of our generous donors, the MISF, Inc. currently sponsors three programs to advance our mission.

Healthy Provisions Program

We provide healthy and nutritious food to those who are in need at no cost to them.  This program consists of 3 divisions:

We provide & deliver hot meals to individuals, families and also to the homeless and military veterans.

We maintain a pantry of non-perishable food and essential household items to distribute in times of emergency or disaster relief.

We deliver essential groceries to low-income families on a monthly basis.

The Anjum Scholars Program

The Anjum Scholars Program is a unique scholarship program that provides financial assistance and professional mentoring to Muslim American students from K to 12th grade and beyond! The ASP is geared towards assisting Muslim-American students who have a strong desire to advance in higher education while preserving their Islamic identity.

Camp Kids Corner

We are extremely excited to introduce a new program – Camp Kids Corner.  Camp Kids Corner was founded July 2018 by Sister Khadijah Guerra, who also serves as the Program Administrator.  The MISF, Inc. will be collaborating with Sister Khadijah with the goal of promoting educational and fun activities for our youth that is guided by both the hadiths and sunnahs of our beloved Prophet, SAW.
